Christmas Sugar Cookies
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year! Not only do we get to celebrate the birth of our Savior, decorate our homes, give gifts to those we love, but we get to make all our favorite calorie free recipes. One of my childhood favorites during the Christmas season was to decorate sugar cookies. Not only are the cookies extremely EASY to make, but they are fun to decorate and really yummy.
These cookies are not only great to make at Christmas, but if you have the right cookie cutters you can make them for all the major holidays.
Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix all the ingredients together.
Cover the dough and chill for 3-4 hours.Roll out the cookie dough.Cut the cookies into your favorite shapes.
Bake for 6-8 minutes at 375 degrees.Let the cookies cool, then decorate.
Frosting:
Confectionery sugar
Vanilla
Milk
Butter-1/2 stick
This year I was able to share my family cookie recipe with some of my friends. We got together for some girl time and during that time we decorated sugar cookies.
There is nothing like getting together with the girls. When we began to decorate we realized that we only had pink, orange and purple food coloring, so our cookies look like they were made for Easter, versus Christmas. They still taste amazing! Then Ann's husband, Matt picked up more food coloring, so we have a couple cookies that have Christmas colors.
